Something not working?

Email us and a person will read it. If you are reporting something broken, the model you were using, your iOS version, and what you did just before it went wrong are the three things that make it fixable.

Common questions

How do I pair my Mac?
Open the Mac app and turn on sharing. It shows a pairing code. On the iPhone, go to Settings, choose the Mac, and type that code once. Its models then appear in the model picker under “On your Mac”.
The Mac's models are not in my picker.
The Mac app must be running with sharing on, and both devices need to be on the same network — or the iPhone needs an address to reach it at, which you can set by hand. If the Mac was paired before, the phone reconnects on its own when you open the app; you do not need to visit the pairing screen again.
Can I use my Mac from outside my home network?
Yes, but you provide the route. The app connects to any address you give it, so pointing it at your Mac through your own VPN works. We deliberately run no relay and no rendezvous service of our own — which is why there is nothing to sign up for, and why reaching your Mac from elsewhere is something you set up rather than something we do for you.
A model download is taking a long time, or stopped.
Models are large — some are several gigabytes. The download continues while the app is in the background and reports progress as it goes. On a metered or slow connection, start it somewhere you can leave it. If it has clearly stalled, cancelling and restarting it resumes rather than starting over.
How do I add a document?
In Settings, under your documents. Add a PDF or a text file and it is read and indexed on the device. Scanned pages are recognised on the device too, so a photographed or scanned PDF works. Ask a specific question afterwards and the reply cites the page it came from.
It replied to my document question with almost nothing.
Ask something more specific. A model given a vague prompt and a page of evidence sometimes produces a fragment rather than a sentence — “when does it expire?” works far better than a word or two.
Does anything I type get sent anywhere?
Only if you turn on web search or Mac offload, and the app tells you what each one sends at the point where you enable it. Everything else happens on the device.
